Report on "The Successful Woman" Workshop

SEED Foundation and the Gender and Culture Research Centre of Corvinus University organised a workshop for 60 girls studying in high school or at university, newcomers on the labour market and women coming back from maternity leave. The aim of the programme was to promote enterprise among women, and the event was part of the Young Entrepreneurs Week managed by Innostart Foundation. The initiative called Global Entrepreneurship Week is originated from Great Britain, and in November 2008 has reached Hungary.
The interactive program started with the situation analysis by Dr Zsuzsa Laczkó, Deputy Director of SEED describing current trends and characteristics of the status of women in Hungary. This was followed by the speech of Dr Dóra Groó, Director of Hungarian Science and Technology Foundation indicating the gender inequalities in scientific careers and the field of innovation. The round-table talks were very interesting and intensive, as the audience became very active asking pratical questions from the guests. Each of them are successful woman entrepreneurs, and they were invited to show examples, and talk about their advantages and disadvantages deriving from being a woman. The guests were:
